It is necessary for the Gnostic student - that is, if one really aspires to one’s self-realization - to study, investigate and comprehend the EGO.

The word “study” is defined as something one must learn. On occasion one wants to terminate an aggregate without having previously studied it.

V. M. SAMAEL AUN WEOR gives us thousands of practices about this matter, teachings which are golden rules but it is necessary for the Gnostic students to study where the problem is.

Sometimes we are so pained to see our Brothers involved in problems that really have no worth.

Dear Reader, I know you will understand what I mean when I say that one has felt the “shame of the other person”. This means that one feels that ignominy or pain committed by others in foolishness or innocent acts. Why is it that in a Sanctuary the Brothers and Sisters in that community are fighting with one another? Each one wants the other person to be just like he wants him/her to be. At the moment one enters into an emotional state against another person or against something (if you are really interested in the elimination of the Ego), well then… immediately, one realizes that the element which must be eliminated has come out into the Battle-ground. Look at it at that moment and ask yourself, “Why did I react?” “Who did I react against?” “Which other sentiments felt hurt?” Question it! “Is it PRIDE?” “Is it SELF-LOVE?” “Is it that FALSE PERSONALITY?” “Is it GLUTIONY?” “Is it LAZINESS/SLOTH?” “Is it LUST?” “Is it JEALOUSY?” etc. From that, the student can come to the true conclusion of the element he is studying.

One can observe with entire clarity that the next day or in successive days that same element continues to come out with the same allies; this means that it is the same delinquent with the same escorts giving us that great opportunity to know it even better… not only that EGO but all the aggregates with that affinity.

This is what the V. M- SAMAEL AUN WEOR calls “knowing that profound significance of the I”. What is it based on? What are its roots? Where does it get his food?

On occasion one could be talking about LOVE and nourishing that I called HATE because one says, “… “I love very much…” “I feel the need to help others in need”. But when Lucas or Charles or Thomas (or simply some other person) comes along, one says that he is an evil person and this person doesn’t serve anyone and so immediately we are putting that person to whom you already have BAD WILL towards, in the judgment or accused seat.

One could begin to speak about humility, about comprehension, but at that moment the mind comes out with the name of a person because in your judgment he does not have humility nor comprehension and surely you will lance rays and thunder against the person and this happens with everything. One could begin to speak about chastity speaking in tough, hard words, with critiques against another person because a child has come to that person in his home, etc.

Everything I am talking about here is known as the “Study of the Ego”. After seeing that the EGO behaves in such n’ such a way and we know this, (I am talking about the thousands we have) we know that element we have studied and now it is apt to place it before your comprehension because we now know it; we have seen it in analysis and we have seen it acting.

At that point it corresponds to us to have great discipline and will.

Discipline because we are going to be very attentive when it is going to go into action and Will not to let it act and then we are in the third phase.

• The first step is to be attentive to when it comes out to act.
• The second step is Will Power not to let it act.
• The third step is the integration with the DIVINE MOTHER for its disintegration.

It is important to note in this chapter that the aggregate in mention must be handed over to THE DIVINE MOTHER DEVI KUNDALINI at the moment we impede its action and also in the transmutation of the couple or single person.

Remember, dear Reader, the EGO acts in all those “bodies of sin” (lunar bodies). It acts in the MIND - as we have already said - as a thought; in the ASTRAL BODY it acts on the person as a character doing wicked things just like on Earth; in the VITAL BODY it absorbs that vital energy and in the PHYSICAL BODY committing its very peculiar errors. That is why we cannot even think that the EGO is individual in character that we are going find and kill as if it were a person. One must use the consciousness, prayer and Will so that all of these integrated with the person in all of these aspects, can collaborate closely with

THE DIVINE MOTHER DEVI KUNDALINI in that Work we must do.

I must tell you, Dear Reader, that it is of the utmost importance that you understand what we are telling you here. These teachings given by our beloved MASTER SAMAEL AUN WEOR when comprehended and done in one’s own practices have taken us to the profound comprehension that in truth and in reality, the death of the EGO is a very difficult problem for that person who likes things that are easy; this person likes to think about vague things and believes in witches or in the predicators of the town. But for the man or woman who is serious in his/her decisions, the death of the EGO becomes a dynamic that gives one love for life and helps one to understand the true and profound significance of one’s very life. In other words, it gives us the reason for our existence.

Don’t forget, Dear Reader, that the EGO is a shadow that inhabits and lives in the occult areas of our psychological country and that the SPIRIT IS LIGHT.

It is sufficient that we take light to those areas where there is darkness; that light is nothing more than the comprehension that GOD gives us as human beings who are reasonable; the consciousness that GOD gives us as children that we are of HIM and as the expression of a FATHER integrated with his CHILD.

Dear Brother and Reader, the MASTER SAMAEL says and we corroborate… “that there is no Religion which is more elevated than LOVE”. That man or woman who has love and who cultivates that love just like one cultivates the little flower in one’s garden and gives it fertilizer and water so that it doesn’t die, this, thus, is how love is strengthened in the heart of the human, divesting himself forever of those horrible obscure parts that have maintained him in ignorance.

When there is love in the heart of man and of the woman, logically, there is light and where there is light, one can see those strange movements that the Ego makes doing its dirty deeds and its evil and perverse acts.

Dear Brother and Reader, I want to be your friend, your companion on this long road of life.

I want you to divest yourself of those shadows you carry in your psyche.

I want you to display yourself before your DIVINE MOTHER and collaborate with HER in these studies, knowledge and death of the psychological aggregates, ‘I’s that have so tortured your internal CHRIST who has come to this world seeking YOUR Redemption.

REMEMBER, DEAR BROTHER, YOU ARE GREATER THAN YOU THINK IF YOU LIBERATE YOURSELF FROM THE EGO AND SMALLER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE, IF YOU CONTINUE ENSLAVED BY IT.

Resolve yourself to fight.
